Friends Need Friends

An important part of our work is building an Endowment Fund for the future maintenance and restoration of the Gloria Danforth Memorial Building - the Friends are the owners of the land and building which houses the public library.

New Advisory Board Shares
New Ideas with the Friends About Building Community Support

The Friends of the Library would like to publicly thank their new Advisory Board for meeting with them on June 8, 2008.  They invited the ten community leaders to offer an objective perspective on how the all-volunteer group can accomplish its goals.
The Board of Directors of the Friends, several active “helpers” to the Friends, and representatives from the library trustees listened to suggestions from the new board.  The discussion focused on ways the Friends can relate more effectively to the communities of Wardsboro and Stratton.  The brainstorming session produced many helpful suggestions.

The 2009-10 Advisory Board is comprised of the following people: Robert Backus, Jan Chamberlin, Roger Desrosier, Rosemary FitzSimons, Flynn
Johnson, John Moran, Paul Rush, Elaine Scott, Jeanette Underwood and Lorraine Weeks Newell.  Heartfelt thanks to each of
them for sharing their knowledge and ideas.

The Friends Advisory Board is asked to join the Friends for one roundtable discussion per year on topics important to the organization. Area residents and concerned citizens are invited to volunteer for a seat on the Advisory Board for 2010. Email the Friends, or call 802-896-3416 to learn more about what's involved.
